3 Reasons Why Hypnosis Can Help With Your Weight Loss

The reasons for being incapable of controlling your weight are usually complex. Very few people are overweight simply because they eat too much. A deeper, emotional cause makes many turn to food for comfort.
The complexity of weight gain factors renders many traditional diets and weight loss programmes inefficient. Unless the underlying cause of the problem gets addressed the weight will simply come back on after some time.
Hypnosis is one of the best weight loss options because it takes a look at the causes and it helps address the issue in its full depth. Hypnosis has nothing to do with calorie counting and introducing severe restrictions. A therapist will simply get "access" to subconscious associations and thought patterns, making it easier to introduce new habits and satisfaction with the process.
So, why is hypnosis such a great option for weight loss?
1. Positive Reinforcement
Most weight loss programmes are severely restrictive. They list foods that need to be avoided and the ones that will contribute to weight gain. These approaches focus on negative feedback and restrictive patterns.
Hypnosis on the other hand, introduces positive suggestions. After undergoing several sessions, you will actually begin enjoying healthy foods and snacks much more than you used to.
2. Ability to Control Cravings
Cravings are a big reason for weight loss failure. Through hypnosis, patients learn how to control these cravings and how to make them disappear.
During sessions, good therapists will encourage patients to "send" the cravings away. A number of people have managed to keep their sugar and chocolate cravings under control after undergoing hypnotherapy.
3. Habit Modification
Through hypnosis, you can learn to enjoy foods that were previously anything but desirable. It is all about modifying the existing subconscious patterns that bring you gratification. These patterns could involve junk food, sweets, carbonated beverages or chocolate shakes.
A hypnotherapist will work on modifying these responses. Instead of having carbonated beverages, you will learn to opt for fresh vegetable juices and ice tea. "Learning" how to enjoy these healthier options will ultimately translate into weight loss.
A Hypnotherapist cannot Force You to do Something You Don't Want
Some people have a misconception about hypnosis. It probably stems from the way hypnotherapy is portrayed in mass media. As a result, individuals worry they will be forced to do something that they do not like or that will cause them embarrassment and shame.
Hypnosis is actually a deep state of relaxation that makes you more open to suggestion and willing to access memories or subconscious connections. In order to benefit from weight loss hypnotherapy, you actually have to desire weight loss. The more motivated you are, the sooner you will experience the benefits.
Explore Reasons for Overeating
Figuring out what is making you overeat can be the most efficient form of weight loss. A hypnotherapist will guide you through the process and give you access to problems and fears that you may actually be unaware of.
Your hypnotherapist will act as a coach who will take you through the process. Using carefully formulated scripts, the therapist will figure out what is troubling you by accessing suppressed memories and your subconscious fears. Understanding these deeper causes of problems can help you kick old habits once and for all.
Hypnotherapy will give you the tools that you need to lose weight and get into shape. Understanding what to expect and knowing how hypnotherapy will affect you can give you the peace of mind that you need to go confidently into a hypnosis session.

Your Roadblocks to Weight Loss

Losing weight is hard, and not seeing results is just frustrating. You may be one of those who have bought fitness books or downloaded fitness plans on your latest gadgets, but still, nothing worked out; the extra pounds you've been wanting to shed off are still there in your body. You're definitely sure that you followed everything, every detail and instruction of the fitness plan, and yet your figure is still the same. Maybe, just maybe, it's not that your fitness plan is ineffective; you might be doing something that defeats the purpose and sabotages the results. Below is a list of things most people do that serves as obstacles in their weight loss programs. Read it to find out what those things are.
1. Your water intake is less than recommended. Water is a good appetite suppressant that when taken before meals, fills your stomach that causes you to eat less. Water too, is an adjunct to an increased fiber intake. Having a diet of fiber-rich foods without drinking enough water can only result to constipation. According to Pamela Wartian Smith, MD, author of "Why You Can't Lose Weight", "If you consume an aggressive amount of fiber, another 8 to 16 ounces a day is a good idea." Therefore, drinking 8 glasses of water isn't enough with that kind of diet; the recommended amount of water will be approximately 12 glasses daily if your diet includes rich sources of fiber.
2. You take in less protein. Studies show that high protein diets are great for weight-losing, body-building fitness plans. Proteins have a property that enhances the feeling of satiety that prevents us to overeat. Additionally, protein takes more energy to be metabolized by the body than carbohydrates and fat, according to Cari Coulter, RD, program director for Wellspring Weight Loss Camp in Kenosha, Wisconsin. In that sense, higher protein diets make the body burn slightly more calories in the process of digestion.
3. You sit all day. Office works can pose a number of health hazards. They seem easy because all you have to do is sit all day in front of your computer; the last thing you can experience is being physically exhausted, but this sedentary lifestyle is one of the major causes of obesity. One study from the University of Missouri-Columbia shows that sitting for a few hours causes your body to stop producing a fat-inhibiting enzyme known as lipase. It will be helpful if you get up and walk for about 2 minutes every 2 hours to burn an additional 59 calories per day. Use your smartphone as a timer to remind you every 2 hours about your 2-minute walk away from your desk.
4. Your computation is inaccurate. Counting calories is the best way to track if you're losing weight or not. Burning more calories than what you take in is a good thing, for you're on track to losing weight, and that's for sure. However, counting calories is not a simple task. More often than not, they are just but approximations. It's really hard to determine calorie intake accurately. Always leave room for margin of error for about at most 200 calories. A huge discrepancy from your calories burned and calories taken in can lead to fluctuations in your weight.
5. You work out regularly. Working out causes your appetite to increase more than usual. People tend to eat more when they work out, maybe because they feel that they have earned it or simply because they have overestimated how much they have burned. The most surprising thing about exercise is that it causes your body to store an extra two to four pounds of water to prevent dehydration. According to Michele S. Olson, PhD, Fitness advisory board member and professor or exercise science at Auburn University in Alabama, "You'll always carry that extra water unless you became inactive; it's not fat or muscle, but simply super hydration."
6. You're always stressed. Whenever you are stressed, cortisol, a stress hormone, is being produced by the body in excessive amounts, which is an appetite stimulant. Cortisol is also a trigger for the production of a brain chemical, neuropeptide Y, which increases cravings for sugar and carbohydrates. Even if you have mastered the art of depriving yourself from cravings, cortisol still can slow down metabolism. Additionally, being stressed increases fat storage in the abdominal area, where weight is harder to lose.
Even the simplest, inconceivable things we do can lead to killing our dreams and aspirations. As soon as possible, try to change the habits that keep you from losing weight and getting in great shape. All it takes is not doing the things that interfere with your fitness plan repeatedly to form a weight loss habit.

Spirulina Weight Loss?

One of the best known and talked about benefits of spirulina is its natural ability to help with weight loss. It is worth taking note that spirulina does not burn fat directly but it helps the body in so many other ways. These are ways spirulina benefits weight loss.
Spirulina is a good source of proteins and it has more proteins that meat and soybeans. With a diet that is full of proteins, you are going to feel fuller for a long time. Foods that are low glycemic index are those that take your body a longer time to digest thus making you to stay away from snacks and treats with high sugar. This is exactly what spirulina does.
Spirulina contains a lot of essential vitamins and minerals that are needed for good health. It is also the first class source of essential omega three fatty acids which also boosts the functioning of the brain. As you continue to follow and maintain an exercise program and healthy diet, spirulina for weight loss is going to give your body a boost naturally.
Spirulina for weight loss also helps to give your body exactly what is needs. There is no other natural source like spirulina and none can match all the health benefits that spirulina provides. Regardless of whether you want to lose weight or you simply want to give your body all the vitamins and nutrients that it needs, spirulina is going to get you on the fast track to better health.
Spirulina is low in calories. It supplies just 3.9 calories for every gram of protein in comparison to beef which supplies sixty five calories for every gram of protein. A standard five hundred milligram tablet of spirulina just has two calories. A regular consumption of spirulina is going to give you a good portion of your daily nutritional needs without there being any caloric consequences.
Spirulina has a high nutrient content. When our bodies feel hungry, it is often your body looking to fulfill its needs for nutrients. When you eat food of bad quality, the brain will trigger your appetite in an effort to get what is wants. Spirulina is going to increase the concentration of nutrients in your body and thus reduce hunger and cravings.
Most people who use spirulina for weight loss take spirulina weight loss powder or the pill an hour before they eat a meal. The high protein level in spirulina is going to slow down the process of digestion, ease the appetite and make one feel less hungry. When you combine spirulina with regular workout and a health balanced diet, you are going to reach your weight loss goal faster.

Effective Weight Management Goes Way Beyond Weight Loss

Fixating on losing weight alone is short lived and cannot be sustained long term. It most often results in many unsuccessful attempts, usually through fad dieting, yo yo dieting, starvation, scrupulous calorie counting and obsessing with the weighing scales. You need to focus on the bigger picture... aiming for whole, long term health instead of fixating on weight loss alone. We are bombarded with promises and quick fixes every day for that perfect figure, when in reality, success can only be achieved when one understands the fundamentals of nutrition and why their current eating and lifestyle habits have led to their current weight problems. Only through re learning, a balanced, fulfilling dietary plan, a feeling of satisfaction after eating, awareness of portion control, cravings being a thing of the past, and some form of physical activity that suits the individual's fitness levels will success be attainable. A support structure and emotional awareness are also fundamental to any long term health strategy as only when all these factors combined have been acted on can permanent change be made. A long term strategy towards a healthier weight will control blood pressure and cholesterol levels, lessen your risk of heart disease, diabetes and certain cancers as well as depression, fatigue and infertility. In a nutshell, losing weight goes way beyond weight loss and shedding those 2 to 3 lb's a week. Focus on the "bigger picture," long term health and longevity.
Benefits of exercise go way beyond weight loss
Exercising as a way of dieting or as a means to an end to shed those pounds is counter-intuitive. What should be an enjoyable and rewarding experience as well as a highly stress busting activity that is about self-care and being positive around health and fitness, instead becomes another chore. So it's no wonder the exercise plan goes off the rails so quickly at the beginning of every new weight loss attempt.
Setting yourself an achievable, realistic goal around exercise is vital. "I have to lose four stone by summer" is not a goal. "I will arrange a free fitness consultation at my local gym one day this week", on the other hand, IS a goal.
An effective weight management programme should include specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time managed goals around exercise and nutrition.
Food and emotions
Many people self medicate with food to manage their emotions when feelings of stress or depression take hold.
Food definitely makes us feel better, even if we aren't self-medicating when we eat. Food not only quells our hunger, it also makes us feel better emotionally. So what's the test for using food to self-medicate?
One benchmark of self-medicating is overindulgence, where food becomes a substitute for a more adaptive way of feeling good. We don't know how to cope when life takes over and things happen- all the D's: divorce, death, deadlines, debt, demands. Eventually eating can appear to be ones only comfort.
Emotional eating creates a cycle of feel bad, eat, feel worse, and eat more. Be mindful of the food-emotion connection.
Obstacles
Weekend Binging: All week you exercise and eat the right foods, but come the weekend you want to "let your hair down." Weekends are wonderful for relaxing, but be mindful of indulging in junk food as a way to unwind. You want to be full of motivation and feeling ready for a new week come Monday, not nursing a hangover from those empty calorie beverages.
Analysis Paralysis: With so many exercise regimes available, deciding which one will give the best results can be a bit overwhelming. There's CrossFit, Zumba, boxercise, yoga, running, weights, circuit training, DVD's, and many more. The best workout is the one you'll do consistently and meets your personal goals and enjoyment. Find what works for YOU.
Poor Planning: Healthy living requires some organization and planning. If you're hoping to squeeze in a workout and have no idea where your meals will be, you're setting yourself up for failure. Plan by scheduling workouts and food shopping in advance for the coming week. Preparation and managing time efficiently is key. Don't give up. Practice makes perfect.
Social Pressure: Although we can't blame others for our own choices, we do need to recognize when they influence our choices. Be prepared for situations where you've caved to peer pressure in the past and don't be afraid to say no. This can be a great time to have a friend who's making the same strides as you to make positive change in their life. Friends can be a great source of support and encouragement.
Do you feel any of these are getting in the way of your fitness and health goals? What other obstacles might be the reason?

Healthy Weight Loss

So many people nowadays are becoming desperate in order to lose weight. They are starting to go to unhealthy lengths in order to look skinny, because they think that it is attractive. However, losing weight in an unhealthy way could certainly be very damaging to your body, and you might not turn out so attractive if you are bony. You probably hear commercials and ads all over the place trying to sell you the newest diet or the newest weight loss operation, and you should ignore these red flags. Instead, you should take the healthy and natural path towards weight loss, one step at a time.

Things to Watch Out For

As mentioned above, new weight loss procedures are being thrown at the public very frequently. However, not a lot of people really know about the health risks of these procedures. Liposuction, a procedure where doctors literally use a vacuum-like contraption to suck the fat out of your body (usually from the stomach area), can be deadly. It also sounds very gruesome, and I assume after reading a more in-depth description of it, you will agree with me. Another weight loss procedure is the Lap-Band procedure. This is where doctors place a band around your stomach, so that you feel fuller sooner and eat less, which eventually leads to weight loss. This is practically like starving yourself, since you aren't actually full and you aren't actually getting all of the nutrients that your body requires to function. The band has also killed a few people, since it has been broken before. Imagine having an unnatural band wrap around your stomach! It makes me tighten up, and I don't know how other people can stand the thought of it, much less the actual procedure. Also, if you eat too much with the lap-band, you could end up throwing up, which is unhealthy as well.

Starving yourself on a diet is another weight loss strategy to watch out for. Starvation is a very serious health condition if you let it go too far. You're losing all of the nutrients that your body needs in order to function, and eventually your body will shut down due to lack of energy. Your body will not target your fat first, but instead will consume your muscles. You will lose all of your muscle mass before you lose any fat, and having nearly no muscle makes life very hard to manage. Starving yourself and denying your body the proper nutrients is never the way to go.

The Steps You Can Take

Healthy weight loss is accomplished through healthy eating and exercise. I know you have been told this time and time again, but it is the truth. This is the only way that you can lose weight in a healthy manner. Plus, if you exercise, your body will be in shape, and will look more attractive than the body of someone who is anorexic. Eating healthy and exercising will make your body feel better, and you will have more energy throughout the day.

Eating healthy will provide your body with the nutrients it needs, and you will feel the difference after about a week or so of changing your eating habits. It might be hard to switch at first, but eventually it will feel natural to eat carrots instead of burgers. Exercising also releases feel-good hormones to your body, so after you get the motivation to leave your couch, you will not regret it! Start making your way to a healthier and fitter you by watching your eating habits and hitting the gym more often.

Breaking Through A Plateau in Weight Loss

Ahh... weight loss. It seems like a topic that we are inundated with information about. I remember being 125 pounds heavier and doing a Google search for a question like "How to lose weight". I can't remember how many articles came up, but it was a lot. I think I did eeny meeny miny moe to choose something, and it was definitely the wrong choice. I don't want to slander the method I picked, but I got frustrated when I hit a plateau and they couldn't help me. I did a lot of reading and research (and later ended up becoming a group trainer and exercise instructor) to find out how to beat a plateau. Here's a few tips I learned along my 125 lb weight loss journey.

-Eat as much unprocessed food as possible.

There is a reason why there are more overweight people now than there were in the past, and that reason is processed food. When you eat something frozen or out of a box, there are a lot of additives in it. Our body doesn't know how to break those down. It does know how to break down unprocessed food. A good rule is that if it grew from the ground or off a tree, eat it. If it once ran, swam, or flew, eat it. (Now consider preparation in that... a grilled chicken breast isn't processed, chicken nuggets are). Here's some of the foods you would be eating: poultry, meat, fish, eggs, vegetables, fruit, oats, brown rice, quinoa, and bulgar. Try transitioning to unprocessed foods if your weight has plateaued. Can't do 100% unprocessed? How about

transitioning to 80% unprocessed food?

-Ramp up your exercise-
Increase your intensity in exercising. Have you been walking on the treadmill at a 0% incline? Increase your incline to 5% and you'll challenge your body and burn fat. Trying jogging some of the time if you are able to.
-Try an exercise you haven't done.

Our bodies adapt quickly to exercise if we do the same exercise repeatedly. If you walk, try a Zumba class. Die hard runner-try some yoga. Shaking your body up with different exercises shreds fat.

-Pick up weights.

If you aren't lifting weights, you need to start. If you're lifting the lightest weight, you need to pick up heavier weights. Choose the correct weight by picking one that feels difficult but not impossible after 8 repetitions. Adding weight training to your workout helps speed up metabolism. Aim for 3 days of weight training per week to see results.

- Keep a food journal and be honest.

Write down everything you eat. You may be surprised by how much you consume.

-Find other ways to cope with stress besides eating.

Exercise, call a friend, search the internet, read, go shopping, play with your children or pets.
Remember, plateaus are frustrating, but no reason to quit. Try some of the suggestions above and you will reach your goal. Believe in yourself and you can get there.

I'm proud to help others on their weight loss journey. Doing it alone is hard, so let me help. I attribute a lot of my success to My Beachbody products, and I can help you as a coach. Weight Loss Strategies That Will Give You Success

Thinking about ways to lose weight can sometimes be stressful if you're feeling like you don't know what to do. If you are one of the many who feels that they need to lose weight, it can start right here! To successfully lose weight, you need to follow proven and effective weight loss strategies. Here are a variety of ideas that will help you succeed.

Do not skip any meals when you are on a dieting program. Skipping meals makes you hungrier and more vulnerable to poor food choices and over-eating. It seems like skipping meals would be beneficial when trying to lose weight, but it is actually counter-productive.

TIP! Drink coffee if you want to maintain energy during your lifestyle change.
If you drink milk or water before eating, you will lose weight more easily. It will fill you up and prevent you from eating too many calories. Additionally, water keeps you hydrated and milk is full of calcium; this helps with strong bones and muscles.

You can lose weight by walking. It helps you lose the weight and helps increase your blood flow, which means you will be less hungry. You can burn 500 calories if you walk for an hour, and that is equal to the amount of calories in a small meal.

If you really enjoy desserts, try eating angel food cake for dessert. It's airy and light and not as fattening as other types of dessert. Sometimes, it can be almost impossible to resist your cravings. Certain types of cake, such as angel food cake, have very little substance. Since they are not as dense, they do not have as many calories as other cakes.

TIP! Don't keep junk food in your home. You won't have to be tempted by fattening foods if they never enter into your house.

Do not skip your meals. You should eat no less than three meals per day. Yes, you can still eat a few snack foods in between, but don't make it your full meal so you won't end up skipping the actual meal. You want to establish a regular rhythm for your body.

Finding ways to get exercise during meal times is an ideal way to shave off the pounds. Are you going to have a picnic? Schedule it in a local park or other green space and then walk to it. If you time allows, arranging meals around a recreational activity is a fun way to burn off the calories and lose those pounds.
It is a well-known fact that muscle burns at least four times more calories than fat does. Muscles burn calories just by being on your body, even if you aren't exercising. Doing strength training around two or three times weekly will help you build strong muscles.

TIP! Mashed cauliflower makes a healthy substitute for mashed potatoes. The recipe is quite simple.
Altering your diet so that it contains extra fruit and vegetables will assist you in your weight loss goals. The greater the variety of vegetables and fruits you eat, the better. The more you try, the more likely you are to find ones you like. Try substituting a piece of fruit for you normal desert and see if your aren't completely satisfied. Vegetables make a healthy addition to dishes like stews and most soups.

By using this advice, you will be able to formulate your own plan for weight loss and physical fitness. This will leave you less stressed. All that remains is to incorporate what you have learned in a manner that works for you. To reiterate, achieving your goals may be easier than you think if you tackle them with determination.

Still Don't Know What Not to Eat When Trying to Lose Weight? Run From These Four Foods!

Finding the right blend of what to and what not to eat when trying to lose weight is like finding a way out of a maze - it doesn't come with a direct answer.

A host of food manufacturers label their foods as healthy for dieters. But after careful analysis, it has been found that the opposite is often the case.

In your quest to achieve permanent weight loss,it is important to learn ways to differentiate between diet-friendly foods and what not to eat when trying to lose weight as this is the beginning of healthy weight loss in the long run.

In that light, common foods termed as healthy but fall under what not to eat when trying to lose weight are...
1) Energy And Sports Drinks: Sometimes, it is seen as common sense to end each workout with a bottle of sports drink. Sports drinks are portrayed to replace lost electrolytes - sodium and magnesium - after each workout.

Except you're a professional athlete that burns extraordinary calories during each workout (which you are not), sports and energy drinks are under what not to eat when trying to lose weight. They are not only packed with sugar but also have lots of calories.
Instead, rehydrate yourself with plenty of water and get your minerals and vitamins from vegetables and
fruits.

2) Low-Fat Cookies: You've heard a countless times why you need low-fat cookies to lose weight because - just like the name suggests - they are low in fat.

But wait for this: they are loaded with sugar to make up for the low-fat.

Here is the drill: once you consume these low-fat, sugar-laden diets, your blood sugar level rises and initiates the release of insulin. This in turn tells the body to convert the excess sugar to fat.

The implication of this is that your body continues to store fat, even if - to you - you're consuming low-fat cookies. The high sugar content that have makes them what not to eat when trying to lose weight.

Also, because it is termed low-fat, the probability to overindulge is very much high. So, why not try to treat yourself with small portions of the full version once in a while? It won't hurt your weight in the long run.

3) Beer And Alcoholic Beverages: This doesn't need any introduction; you know alcohol lures you into mindless irrepressible indulgence. You know one bottle is not enough, you go for many. This is sad because one bottle of alcohol contains as much as 150 calories.

Beer and alcoholic beverages should be on the list of what not to eat when trying to lose weight, but if you find it difficult to stop, a bottle a week should be enough.

4) Pasta and Bread: White pasta and bread both contains white flour which elevates your blood sugar. You know what elevated blood sugar does to you: it triggers the release of insulin which in turn converts the food into fat.

Instead of white pastas and bread, go for whole-wheat and whole-grain pastas and cereals - they contain high level of fiber which will make you satiated for longer periods of time.

4 Reasons Why You Might Not Be Reaching Your Weight Loss Goals

The numerous weight loss strategies out there and the professionals who claim to have the solution to getting rid of unwanted weight have surely played their part when it comes to providing information. However, it is still common to find very many people, including children in their early teen years suffering from serious health problems, whose main cause is excess weight.
If you are one of the people in this situation then am sure that you have tried to lose weight through many ways, but the following might be the reason why you are not quite getting to the point that you desire:
  1. Missing out on breakfast

This might seem like a small thing, since people have busy lives, since their schedules begin several hours before the sunrise, and they get back home when it is dark. The temptation to miss breakfast in order to make it for that early morning meeting is great, but this is a sure way of sinking deeper into health problems, not to mention weight gain. Breakfast has a way of increasing an individual's metabolism and helps people to eat less during the day. These two aspects are very important when trying to lose weight.

  2. Eating takeout

When people are living on the 'fast lane', it becomes a bit hard for them to get enough time to go to the store and purchase ingredients to cook a meal. Such people settle for eating 'take out', and most of these foods are full of calories, and most of the times they are not balanced. Going for weight loss pills and eating overly processed foods will not help you to lose weight, therefore, take time to cook your own food at home, or have someone do it for you, since in the long run, it will not only help you to lose weight, but you will also save a lot of money.

  3. Not Monitoring your weight loss progress

When people start following a particular weight loss strategy, they forget to keep tabs on their progress, and they never know when they have stopped losing weight and have started to gain. Do yourself a favour and buy a weighing scale, where you can always measure your progress on a daily basis. You can have it in the kitchen or along the hallway. The figures you register on the scale will guide you to know when to intensify your activities as well as when to relax a bit.

  4. Come up with your own diet

Someone once claimed that what you feed grows, and what you do not feed dies. Although the saying is mostly suited for morals and addictions, we can also use it literally. You are best advised to approach your personal doctor and have him or her examine you, and tell you what diet will work for you and which one is a waste of time. Doctors know about how different bodies react to the foods that they take, and if you want your weight issues to die, then with the help of the doctor, stop feeding it.

Enjoy Carbs Without Storing Them As Fat

Everyone loves carbohydrates, but to the person trying to lose weight they can seem like the enemy. If you have ever gone on a low carb diet, then you know that dropping your carb intake can make the pounds drop off quickly. Yes, low carb diets work, but they can also leave you feeling drained and moody. There is a way to enjoy carbs without storing them as fat and it involves timing and a few small tweaks.

Your body looks at carbohydrates as energy. When you eat a carbohydrate, whether it is a piece of white bread or a hearty bowl of oatmeal, your body will break it down to its smallest units, glucose.

Glucose is found floating around in your bloodstream; you might know it as blood sugar. This sugar is used by all of the trillions of cells in your body for fuel. So you can see that carbohydrates are valuable nutrients as far as your body is concerned.

The problem dieters run into is what I like to refer to as "spill-over." What this means is if you eat too many of the wrong carbs or eat them at the wrong times, your body will be unable to store them as energy. Instead, they will store them as fat.

Here is how your body handles carbohydrates...

You eat a carbohydrate-rich food, then enzymes break the carbs down into glucose which does one of three things:

1. It can be used for immediate energy by traveling from your bloodstream into your cells.
2. It can be stored for future energy needs in your muscles and liver. This is called glycogen.
3. If options 1 and 2 are filled, then the unused carbs become fat.

In other words, if you eat carbs and your body does not immediately need the energy and it has enough already in storage, then that carb, and every one that follows "spills over" into your fat cells.
To enjoy carbohydrates and not store them at fat, you need to make a few tweaks and time your intake of carbs. This way you get to enjoy the satisfying taste of carbohydrates, your body gets the needed energy, and you lose weight.

Here are a few steps to take to avoid storing carbs as fat:

1. Eat carbohydrates early in the day, preferably complex carbs in the morning. By complex carbs I mean foods such as oatmeal, whole wheat/whole grain breads, even starchier vegetables like potatoes or sweet potatoes.

In the morning your body experiences a natural spike in metabolism and your body cells are at their highest sensitivity to insulin. This means that the carbs you eat will be used more efficiently and not land on your belly or hips as fat.

2. Time your carbohydrate intake around exercise. By eating carbohydrates a few hours before a workout you provide readily available energy to your body. By eating carbs right after your workout you replenish future energy stores in your liver and muscles.

3. Most importantly, do not completely avoid carbohydrates. When carbohydrates are withheld from your diet, your body's number one fat-burning hormone, leptin, plummets. In fact, leptin levels can drop up to 50% after the first week on a strict low carb diet.

Leptin is a key hormone to control if you want to lose weight and you need carbs to keep leptin working for you. So do not avoid carbohydrates. You can enjoy them without storing them as fat if you time your intake and use them to keep your leptin levels high.

If you do these things, then you will essentially keep your body in a fat-burning state 24/7. This is because carbs are energy and carbs keep leptin levels high. High leptin levels = high levels of fat burning.

But what if I told you there was an even easier way to enjoy carbs without storing them as fat and at the same time keep leptin levels high?

Fortunately there is a drop-dead simple way to get your fat burning hormones working for you. Click the links for more Powerful Fat-Burning Tricks.

How to Beat Weight Gain Over 40

You had a few ups and downs but your weight stayed fairly steady during your 20s and 30s. Then you reached 40 and started to put on weight. You eat healthy food, you get some exercise, it worked before - what's happened? Like most things there are reasons and solutions. Your weight gain is nothing to do with failure on your part and everything to do with how nature works. Like many people you need to know how to lose weight over 40.

As we get older our metabolic rate drops. That means our body needs to burn fewer calories to maintain its weight. If we carry on eating the same and exercising the same as we did when we were young we are going to put on weight. That is why older people have trouble with their weight and why losing it is not easy. Even if you try to keep to a healthy lifestyle it is hard to lose weight over 40. If you are at home looking after your family you can be eating for comfort or out of boredom. Even daytime TV can become addictive and that is as good a way as any to forget your exercise program. If you are working maybe you live on sandwiches or have regular corporate lunches and drive everywhere. The last thing you want, whatever you do, is to exercise each evening - you are too exhausted.

You need to eat 500 calories less than you need each day to lose 1 pound a week. But you may be eating 300 calories a day more than you need already. To eat 800 less a day is a challenge and for some may not be achievable. The best thing to do is trial and error, but it will involve exercise. Try eating 500 calories less.

One way of doing it is to eat smaller portions and that is achieved by using smaller plates. You can also cut out anything obvious like a mid morning latté and croissant, or eating a lot of white bread. Then you really will have to exercise. This helps burn off calories and you will not have to rely just on a reduced diet to lose weight. The easiest exercise is walking or jogging. The reason I suggested trial and error is that you may not be eating 300 calories more than you need. So try half an hour's brisk walking a day, which can be two 15 minute sessions morning and evening if that is more convenient. If you start losing weight that is all you need, if not increase the exercise. You will also benefit by swapping any high calorie foods you may still be eating for more healthy fruit and vegetables.

If you have been weight watching in the past you already know how to lose weight over 40. You just need to carry on, but eat less and exercise more. If you have been eating the wrong food and not getting enough exercise you must change your way of life. Eating healthy food is important and, although not everybody likes it, exercise is essential as we grow older. Not only does it burn calories but it slows the loss of muscle mass which occurs with age. There is no reason why people over 40 should not be as fit and slim as when they were younger, but it is harder work. If you are prepared to deal with this there will be no problem losing weight when you are over 40.

Got Belly Fat? Lack of Sleep May Be Sabotaging Your Weight Loss

Belly fat, and gaining weight is a sign that something isn't working properly in your body. It's so unfortunate that overweight people are blamed for gaining weight by people say it's the result of them overeating and under-exercising.

The thing in common people suffer when they have gained weight is STRESS. It is stress that causes emotional eating. Stress also depressed the metabolism in a normal body, and can make you gain weight while still eating your "normal diet". And stress can also prevent restorative sleep, which in turn, slows down the metabolism.

Sleep and Stress

People under stress are oftentimes sleep deprived. Think about how stress affects your sleep. Even if you are exhausted, oftentimes your sleep is disturbed with thoughts about the issue that is stressing you. This can result in disruption of your normal sleep patterns and keep you from getting restful restorative sleep.
Sleep Deprivation & Weight Gain

Recent findings are showing the relationship between lack of sleep, and weight gain. Research from the American Heart Association showed that even 1 hour and 20 minute difference between two groups of subjects was enough to make the sleep deprived group eat an average of 549 additional calories each day! In another study, it was found that subjects had a correlation of body fat with their sleep patterns. Those who slept the fewest hours per night weighed the most.

Lack of sleep is associated with the hormones that control your hunger and satiation cues. Not enough sleep will turn down your Leptin levels and cause Ghrelin to rise. Increased Ghrelin, stimulates appetite and makes you feel unsatisfied with the amount of food that you eat. Leptin, which is produced in your gastrointestinal track turns off the hunger by sending signals to your brain that you've had enough.

This is a perfect combination to make you over-eat, adding additional calories that you don't need!
Lack of sleep can become part of a vicious cycle. If you are sleep deprived, and have started putting on weight a frequent problem is Sleep Apnea. That's a condition where abnormalities, thought to be caused by overweight cause the soft tissue in the rear of your throat to collapse, closing off air passages many times during the night. It stops you from breathing and causes a tendency to snore. The end result is disruption in your sleep. Even when you've given yourself what would seem adequate time to sleep, you only get half as much actual deep sleep. You not only feel tired all day, but it affects your Ghrelin and Leptin levels, adding weight, and contributing to the sleep apnea!

Cutting back from the standard eight down to four hours of sleep each night also was shown to
produce striking changes in glucose tolerance and endocrine function. These changes resembled the effects of advanced age or the early stages of diabetes: after less than one week!

Similar to the problems with Insulin resistance (Metabolic Syndrome, or Syndrome X) some people have been shown to be Leptin Resistant. It's like when your body is telling you stop, but you brain doesn't pay attention. And this is NOT under your control.

Rather than telling yourself that "pushing it" to stay awake longer and work by filling yourself with caffeine; you are sabotaging your efforts at weight loss, AND aging your body and brain!

If you don't get enough sleep because you are working too hard, or playing to hard, your efforts may be "waisted" into belly fat (pun intended).

Weight Loss And Fat Loss - What's the Difference?

What many people looking to lose weight fail to realise is that in order to be healthy, we don't need to lose weight; we need to lose fat. Weight management is about losing fat, while maintaining healthy muscles, not having them wither away.

Weight Loss

Many people falsely assume that losing weight is the answer to their problems. A healthy body is made up of a composition of water, fat, bone and muscle mass. What can happen on crash diets and ill-informed weight loss programs is that people unknowingly "starve" their muscles of vital nutrition, causing them to wither, and because muscle weighs more than fat, people get on the scale and think they are getting great results.
Not only are these results false, they are unhealthy and energy levels, mood and general wellness can suffer as a result.

Fat Loss

Having a healthy weight is about looking your best and feeling your best. That's why maintaining a healthy body composition is so important. The way to do this is by targeting fat loss and not merely weight loss, as is so often promoted in many wonder diets, courses and products.

When looking for a weight loss diet, product or program, make sure they offer a way to lose more fat without losing muscle. Muscle is not only important for looking toned and trim, it is vital for a healthy functioning body.

How do you measure Fat Loss?

Fat loss is measured in inches or centimetres and not in pounds or kilograms. A good old fashioned tape measure around the area where you would like to go after provides a great indication of your progress.
Some popular target areas include:

Target Measurement Areas

Another simple indicator of your progress is a drop in your clothing size. Have fun as you slim and tone by taking photographs as you are dropping in your clothing size until you reach your goal.

Healthy Weight Management Goals

When making your weight management goals, aim for the amount of inches or centimetres you want to lose in your target areas and toss that scale in the garbage.
That way, not only will you be looking great, you will feel like a million bucks too.

Watch out for Quick-Fix Cures

Lastly, no matter how wonderful the product, if they don't recommend using it with with a reduced-calorie diet and proper exercise program, something may be suspect.

Walking the path to your desired healthy body is part of what makes it so worthwhile when you get there and have you ever accomplished anything worthwhile that's been quick and easy?

How To Lose 10 Pounds

Losing the first ten pounds of fat is often the most difficult. We are still set in our old, unhealthy ways of doing things and change is hard. But if you can lose 10 pounds then you can lose 100, or any amount you want. But it starts with the first 10 pounds. Losing 10 pounds is significant and a great motivator to losing more weight.

If you want to lose weight you need to burn more calories than you take in. That is common sense but you need to understand that before you can lose weight. No one likes counting calories or worrying about what they are eating, it takes the pleasure out of it. But with practice, making healthy food choices becomes like second nature and you program yourself to automatically make healthy choices.
1 Pound equals 3500 calories. Cut 3500 calories out of your diet and lose 1 pound. Do that 10 times and lose the 10 pounds. Reduce your calorie intake and increase your cardiovascular exercise and you increase the rate at which you will lose those 10 pounds.

Diet and exercise together allow you to not only lose weight quicker, but also give you a better chance at success. With exercise you don't have to be as concerned with your diet and with diet you don't have to be as concerned with exercise. But combining them and adhering to your plan, you will certainly lose 10 pounds of fat. After you lose 10 pounds of fat, you set your goal on losing 20 pounds and continue until you have reached your weight goal. By the time you have reached your final goal you will have developed new healthy habits of diet and exercise. Continuing what you have practiced and used to lose those 10 pounds of fat, you should be able to maintain a healthy weight and lifestyle.

You want to stay away from all foods that contain high amounts of sodium, saturated fats, and/or large amounts of sugar. Read the labels and do some research to see just what you are putting in your body.
Some foods you do want to include would be:
  • Vegetables
  • Fruits (skip ones that are high in fructose)
  • Lean cuts of meat
  • Turkey
  • Skinless chicken
  • Fish
You should also include whole grain foods, legumes and unsalted nuts, brown rice and healthy fats such as in olive oil.

Drink lots of water. Water not only hydrates you but it also helps in the digestion of food, especially proteins. It also helps you burn calories faster when you are well hydrated.

Losing the Belly Fat Can Be a Fun If Only You Know How to Do It

Belly fat is really a matter of serious concern and requires a concerted effort to get rid of it. But why make a long face and act as if you are suffering from a lethal disease or undergoing a rigorous punishment for some crime.

Look here, if you take the problem of your fat belly so seriously, you may get bouts of depression that may fire up your appetite. You may start overeating and end up in gaining more weight rather than losing it.

The best way to lose belly fat is to take it literally in your stride. Start striding-walking, being more active and agile more often if you already are not. You may hear a lot advice on taking particular kind of fat diets, strenuous and punishing workouts on expensive machines in the gyms or the easy way of popping up FDA approved weight loss pills. FDA, incidentally is opposed to taking fat loss pills.

All this expert advice is easier given than followed up. Just think of the olden times, visualize the pictures of the hunters and farmers that you may have seen. Do you remember having seen fatsos in those days?
Losing the overall body weight or belly fat was never a problem. These people lived a natural, active life. There was neither an awareness nor any need to follow some kind of strict dietary or workout regimes. People did not live the kind of disciplined life in the modern concept of the word.

Man was born free and should remain free of artificially created restrictive and disciplined regimes and chores of any kind that kill the real joy of living rather than promoting it. Restrictive regimes, whether dietary, medicinal or physical cannot be followed over a long time even though they may demonstrate some temporary benefits.

The secret to losing the belly fat is to live an active life. In practical terms, you should reduce your dependence on the time saving and convenient machines and start using your hands and feet to perform your routine chores.

Find some time to play with your spouse and kids. Take to rope jumping, playing hide and seek, kissing each other while the children are hiding in a room. Do the domestic chores like cleaning, dusting and washing together to the rhythm of your favorite music. Walk or cycle along with your kids to the grocery or departmental store to make your weekly purchases.

Reverting once again to closeness with nature, take natural foods, fruits, vegetables and salads. Season them with light salts and spices, lime, lemon or even some sweeteners. Above all, take lots of water and other healthy beverages like green tea. You may take the tasty fried and fatty foods off and on without feeling guilty. But remember again, they are artificial, not natural.

Be happy as the fatsos are generally known to be and you will find that you are losing your belly fat surely and steadily.

The Effectiveness of The HCG Weight Loss Program

An Overview of The HCG Diet
The HCG diet is a weight loss plan that is growing in popularity. It is an eating plan that involves taking HCG drops or injections while following a very strict diet. The HCG diet is intended for people who have a significant amount of weight to lose.

How Exactly Does The HCG Diet Work?

The HCG diet is divided into three phases. The dieters are encouraged to eat a lot of fatty foods during phase one because it prepares the body for calorie deprivation. People start taking the drops during phase one. Phase one is a very important step, so people want to make sure that they do not skip it. This phase only lasts one or two days.

Phase two is the hardest phase of the diet. It lasts anywhere from 21 to 40 days, depending on the person' s weight loss goals. Dieters are allowed to consume a maximum of 500 calories per day. They are encouraged to take a daily B vitamin supplement for energy.

Not only are dieters required to restrict their calorie intake during phase two, but they are also not allowed to consume foods that are very high in sugar or fat. Dieters are encouraged to eat as many fresh foods as they possibly can.

The final phase of the HCG lasts between three and six weeks. During this phase, dieters can consume a maximum of 1500 calories, and they are encouraged to eat healthy fats. No drops or injections are needed during the final phase.

How Effective Is The HCG Diet?

The HCG diet is extremely effective at promoting weight loss. However, it is important to note that individual HCG weight loss results can vary greatly. The amount of time that one stays on the diet is one of the many factors that determine a person's weight loss results.

Women who follow the 30 day program can expect to lose between 15 and 30 pounds. Men can lose between 20 and 40 pounds by following the 30 day program. Women can lose between 25 and 45 pounds by following the 45 day program. Men who follow the 45 day program can lose between 35 and 55 pounds.

Women who follow the 60 day program can expect to lose between 30 and 60 pounds. The vast majority of men lose between 40 and 80 pounds by following the 60 day program. The average daily HCG weight loss is between 0.5 and one pound.

What Are Some Things That Can Be Done to Maximum HCG Weight Loss Results?
Drinking one glass of green tea every day is one of the things that people can do to maximum their weight loss results. Green tea helps boost metabolism. Even though exercise is not required while following the HCG diet, people should consider exercising. However, those who do engage in exercise need to make sure that they do not overdo it. Low level activities, such as doing housework or walking, are the best choices for exercise.
