Fight Away the Weight Loss Diet Blues

Fight Away those Blues
The grey skies and darker days in the UK during the autumn and winter months can make staying upbeat a bit of a task.

Staying positive can be made harder by the darker days, however there are a number of things you can do to get on top of the issue until spring rears its flowery head. Essentially, staying positive and having an upbeat mind set is the best way to avoid those days you don't want to leave the duvet.
Be Social

Keeping your diary full in the winter is a necessity if you want to keep on top of your mood. So, take every opportunity to attend parties, stay social and get out and about.
Meeting people for lunch is a good way to get out and about and it doesn't have to cost an arm or a leg. Basically, other people's company is the best way to energise you during these dank months. Anything from a pub quiz, to a visit with friends to a local gallery or show, to even clubs and classes helps.
Exercise

If you really want to double up on the benefits, why not join an exercise class with a friend. There's plenty around and they're great fun and also a way of meeting new people. Exercise classes also help you banish the blues through the creation of mood enhancing endorphins.

Regular exercise during the winter is a great way to give yourself a boost and though the sofa and sweets may seem more appealing, you'll feel the better for a walk or some form of exercise. Even a 15 minute stroll at lunch is enough to get you on the right track.

Of course, if you don't fancy the cold of the great outdoors, why not join a gym? The January period can throw up some great deals for gyms as can daily deal sites. However, the key is to ensure it is close to your home or your work and not hard to get to, No need to make life more complicated than it needs to be.
SAD

Sunlight is also a must and it really can alleviate bad moods. Make sure to get a little bit of light each day to prevent issues due to lack of light.

Brains can also really slow down during the winter - especially if you don't get out and about or partake in exercise. Get your mind working for the winter and set yourself goals - perhaps aim to learn a new skill, or get a promotion.

Reading is also something you can catch up on during the winter - so maybe join a book club, or read a book you always wished to read. Open University Courses are also a great pastime for the winter season and allow you to learn about something you always wanted to learn about, while keep your mind and body active.

Essentially, through keeping active and exercising, as well as eating well and meeting people; you can keep that positive mind set intact and shorten winter no end.
